Tile Adhesive (Floor and Wall)

E-Mix Tile Adhesive is a high-performance latex-modified adhesive composed of cement, sand, synthetic resins and unique additive constituents. E-Mix Tile Adhesive is formulated to offer excellent workability and adhesion characteristics along with high elasticity.
The high-elasticity tile adhesive is specially formulated to lay large ceramic, vitrified, granite, marble, and composite materials on the wall or floor (up to 600 mm on cladding). The high-performance workability of the adhesive allows the tile to stay intact on the surface. E-Mix tile adhesive does not contain any material considered harmful to the health of the applicator/mason.

Uses

E-Mix tile adhesive is used for interior and exterior to fix ceramic or vitrified tiles, natural stone, etc. The adhesive can be applied with a thickness of 3 to 12 mm. Due to its strong adhesion and flexibility, E-Mix tile adhesive is still an excellent option for installing big tiles on walkways with lots of foot traffic.

Instructions

All substrates must be plain, solid, sound, compact, and free from dust, grease, and inconsistent parts. Concrete supports should have been allowed to cure sufficiently. It is best to allow for all shrinkage movements before installing tiles. First, treating the substrate with a coat of primer before applying it to porous substrates will be necessary. To prevent the mortar from absorbing water, dampen the surface with clean water before using the E-Mix tile adhesive.

Mixing and application

E-Mix tile adhesive should be mixed with clean water (about 7-8 litres per bag of 25kg). Mix it thoroughly well with a mechanical/electrical mixer until a homogeneous mixture free from lumps is obtained. Remix briefly before application. Apply E-Mix tile adhesive with a toothed trowel, spreading the first pass with its smooth part and then a second with the toothed part. Place the tiles onto the adhesive bed. Apply sufficient pressure on the tile during fixing with slight twisting movement to ensure good contact with the mortar. Apply enough material to be tiled during the adhesive's open wet time. Spreading across large areas at a time may result in drying the adhesive, resulting in poor adhesion. Remove excess adhesive with a damp cloth before it dries. Joint grouting between tiles may be commenced after a gap of 24 hours. In the case of large-size tiles, it is necessary to spread the adhesive to the backside of the tile as well.

Storage

E-Mix Tile Adhesive is packed in 25 kg. BOPP bags. If kept in a dry-covered place, the product could have up to 12 months of shelf life.

Notes

The porosity of tiles and substrates is known to affect the adhesive strength of tiles significantly. To recommend the proper method of application and type of adhesive, consult our Technical Department before fixing the tiles.
Do not apply E-Mix tile adhesive in rainy weather, high winds and sand storms.
Do not apply on a surface with a less than five °C temperature.
During the summer, the working area should be covered to prevent the effects of the direct sun. Keep equipment in cold spaces and use cold water.
The product should not be exposed to flowing water during application.

Health & Safety

E-Mix tile adhesive is a cement-based product. However, it is recommended that workers handling this product wear appropriate safety equipment. It may include dust masks, rubber gloves, complete eye protection and boots wherever necessary.
In case of contact with eyes, it is advised to wash with plenty of water. If irritation persists, seek immediate medical attention. Make sure there is adequate ventilation and the inhalation of dust is avoided. For further information, refer to the material safety data sheet.
